We all dream about work from home for ourselves, but what could be better than having your own business or career and being able to run it from anywhere, including (if you wanted to) your bedroom. Well, here are a few career ideas for which you can do just that.
#1 Freelance writer work
Writing freelance for others can be done anywhere, and really all you need is a computer, a tablet, or even just your phone with an internet signal. Freelance writing can come in many forms. It can include ghost-writing books, penning scripts and blogs, as well as articles for websites, to name just a few.
Although for some of these jobs, you may find that a high level of ability is required, for others, you can just jump straight in and start earning money right away.
#2 Google associated cloud engineer
You could start your own business as a Google associate cloud engineer. This is a very fast-growing industry that requires Google certification to prove that you can do what will be required of you.
There are courses available to learn how to do this role, and these courses can be done in your own time and scheduled around whatever other commitments you may have. At the end of the course, you will have to complete an exam to prove your knowledge before being awarded your certificate.
#3 Affiliate marketing
Another alternative could be to set up a website and a social media profile for affiliate marketing. This is where you would write blogs and articles about various things and mentioning products or services with a view to get your readers’ interest in them. You make sure to put the links into your writing for the companies or products for which you are an affiliate and guide your readers into clicking on the links to read more or actually make a purchase.
In most cases, companies will pay only if your link produces a sale. Also, commission payments will vary for different products or services. The lower-end products such as pens and stationery will have a lower commission rate than, say, cosmetic surgery, travel or insurance.Â
This is relatively easy work. However, you do have to remember that if your reader does not use your link to click through but goes to the website directly, you will not get your commission for that click or sale.
Final thoughtsÂ
There are plenty of jobs or careers that you can do your work from the comfort of your own home. You could become a freelance writer and write all kinds of things, from ghost-writing books and stories to writing blogs for websites and social media profiles.
It might take a little more time to become a Google associated cloud engineer and help others with their cloud storage solutions, but the paychecks are usually bigger.Â
Running your own affiliate website and social media profile and get paid commissions is another alternative, but one definitely best run as a ‘side hustle’ until things pick up.
